Farm to Fork
Co-ops have a unique relationship with growers and producers. We are there from production to the retail shelf — from Farm to Fork.
There are so many advantages to choosing local products at Co-op. A shorter trip from the producer to the grocery store means the product is fresher. The economic benefits of shopping local are circular – when local businesses thrive, so do their communities. And when you’re buying food that’s been grown and produced right here in Manitoba, you can expect it to be a high-quality, delicious product.
Co-ops across Western Canada work with local farmers and producers to bring their products from the farm to your fork. Co-op is there every step of the way providing products and expertise on the farm, helping to create the end products, and introducing it at your Co-op Food Store.
We are excited to share these great Manitoba-made products with our members and customers so you can take them home to share with your family.

Co-op Gold Potato & Egg, Creamy Potato and Dill Pickle Potato Salads
You’ll find deli salads crafted from potatoes lovingly grown near Portage la Prairie, Man. Les Wiebe and his family operate WF Farms, a family farm founded in 1980 by Les's father. Les's journey began at just nine years old and now is joined by his wife Tina and sons, who have been integral to the farm’s success. Beyond potatoes, their farm flourishes with corn, edible beans, spring wheat, canola and soybeans.

WF Farms is not only a farming operation but a heartwarming local success story. For over 30 years, it has supported local Co-ops, purchasing all its fuel from Homestead Co-op.
Homestead Co-op’s B2B Operations Manager Donovan Fehr said the organization values the strong relationships built with local producers like WF Farms.
“For years, they’ve trusted us for their bulk fuel needs, and now we’re proud to offer farm-fresh deli salads using their potatoes in our stores,” he said. “Supporting local businesses means more than just buying products—it’s about strengthening our communities, creating connections and bringing high-quality, local food from farm to fork. It’s partnerships like this that make Co-op truly local.”
Co-op Gold Feta
When you buy Co-op Gold Feta, you’re tasting a product made by the Chaeban family in Winnipeg using dairy from the Grenkow family farm in Stonewall. The Chaeban and Grenkow families met through the Dairy Farmers of Manitoba and discovered not only that they shared values of family and community, but they were both Red River Co-op members.
Working closely with Co-op’s Fuel and Grow Teams, Grenkow Holsteins Farms produces the dairy products that the Chaeban family uses for both their ice cream and Co-op Gold Feta.
Joseph Chaeban is a second-generation cheese maker and the son of Lebanese refugees. In 2016, his wife’s family needed to escape from Syria – so he started an ice cream business to bring joy to the neighbourhood and provide employment for his wife’s family. Ice cream is for the summertime, but cheese has no season – and you can enjoy Co-op Gold Feta year-round.
Berkshire Sired Pork
Working with a Western Canadian producer means that Co-op Berkshire Sired Premium Pork is completely traceable, which is an exciting differentiator in the fresh meat market. The hogs are from Valley Lea Farms in Ste. Anne, Manitoba. Thanks to a program started at Red River Co-op in Manitoba, Co-op is working with Valley Lea Farms and processor Winkler Meats to continue providing this premium product to Co-ops and their customers across Western Canada.
Co-op Gold Bird Food
Co-op’s proud farm-to-fork tradition isn’t just about feeding humans. Our much-loved feathered friends get their very own farm-to-feeder story with our comprehensive range of Canadian-sourced Co-op Gold Bird Food. Manitoba-based H&M Farms, which grows sunflowers, supplies fresh Canadian-grown seeds for the bird food blends.
Sun Valley Co-op has been fuelling the equipment moving through the fields at any of H&M Farms’ three locations for more than 40 years. In some fields, the seed, fertilizer and pesticide being applied may come from their local Co-op, too.
Heritage Lane Farms
Clearview Co-op supplies fuel, propane and lubricants to the local farmers at Heritage Lane Farms in Blumenort, and then Clearview Co-op and Red River Co-op bring fresh, free-range roasting chickens to their stores. High-quality meats are found locally, and this collaboration allows families to support local producers.
Farmery Estate Brewery
Brothers Chris and Lawrence Warwaruk grew up shopping at the Co-op their grandparents helped found. Now, they work with the Neepawa-Gladstone Co-op Grow and Fuel Teams to help grow the crops they use in their brewing process. You can find Farmery beverages like Auntie Bea’s Cold and Hard Brewed Teas and Virgin Beer Caesars on Co-op Food and C-Store shelves.
Bee Maid Honey
Made of more than 300 Western Canadian beekeepers with hives in the honey-producing region from Alberta to Manitoba, Bee Maid Honey Limited has been a co-operative since 1954, with roots tracing back to the 1930s. We proudly sell Bee Maid Honey at Co-op stores across Western Canada, and Clearview Co-op has proudly called one of their beekeepers, Art Bergmann, a Co-op customer for more than 50 years.
High-quality, local products. High-quality community connections. Homestead Co-op is proud to stock products from Manitoba-based farmers and producers for the benefit of our members, customers and communities.
